YSEI seeks program entrepreneur

YSEIYSEI 2The youth program of Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP), Youth Social Entrepreneurship Initiative (YSEI) seeks highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and experienced individuals to join the team as a program entrepreneur.

Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) is a global network of social entrepreneurs, public, private and grassroots organisations committed to harnessing the potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for sustainable and equitable development. The network enables the sharing of information, experiences and resources to help reduce poverty and empower people. (www.globalknowledge.org)


GKP’s youth program – Youth Social Enterprise Initiative (YSEI) – identifies and supports young social entrepreneurs (ages 19 to 30) who possess innovative yet practical ideas to bring about lasting social change. Its fellowships are designed to help social entrepreneurs achieve their goals from the initial idea through to project implementation and impact creation by providing comprehensive support mechanisms such as essential development knowledge and social entrepreneurship tools; mentorship programs; networking; and start-up financing up to USD15, 000 per project. YSEI is developed as a multi-stakeholder partnership project between GKP members – Mitra, OrphanIT, TakingITGlobal & TRN. The YSEI Secretariat is housed under TRN. (www.globalknowledge.org/ysei)
YSEI believes young people have the passion and energy, the strategic social positioning, and the natural tendency towards problem-solving which is a key characteristic of the entrepreneurial ‘ground-clearing’ process. In order for social entrepreneurship to bring increased efficiency and innovation to conventional development, YSEI invests in young social entrepreneurs so that the most dynamic young people actively embrace the movement.


YSEI is seeking highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and experienced individuals to join the team as a program entrepreneur.
A Program Entrepreneur will be responsible for:
• Spread and adaptation of the YSEI program to one of several new countries (Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe, etc)
• Program management, including operationalizing, budgeting, monitoring and evaluating the program
• Development and ongoing relationship management of corporate and social sector partners
• Capacity building of partner organizations’ program coordinators/facilitators
• Fundraising and strategic planning for program sustainability
• Marketing and market research
The role will require some amount of travel. The role may also evolve over time as YSEI develops and spreads.


The ideal candidate should:
• Be down-to-earth, fun-loving, full of humour and constantly willing to learn
Other important characteristics:
• Believe strongly in the ability of youth to lead social change
• Be entrepreneurial, creative, self-motivated and a problem solver
• Have relevant experience, especially as a leader
• Have experience in creating system change with youth
• Have strong conceptual and analytical skills
• Have strong project management and problem solving skills
• Have strong interpersonal, relationship building, and facilitation skills
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Be collegial and comfortable with working in teams
• Have strong ethical fiber
