Origo Institute Seeks Student Intern for Summer 2006
Origo produces and disseminates knowledge about building businesses that are powerful economic engines, environmental assets, and socially valuable resources. The Origo team is drawn from across the private and social sectors and shares a passionate interest in innovative business systems.
Origo is seeking a summer intern to work primarily within the Origo Institute, a non-profit entity, which houses activities such as research, events, and a newsletter that Origo carries out for the public benefit. This 10 week internship will formally be part of the Origo Institute and will be focused on the activities within that part of the broader organization. However, the intern will be exposed to all parts of Origo’s organization and activities.
The likely tasks that the intern will be responsible for include:
- Research and support for our monthly publication of Origo Cross Sector News
- Support for an new initiative called “Innnovators” that will work with young entrepreneurs to create video blogs that track leading and early stage social entrepreneurs
- General office support
- Other projects that will be determined based on need and interest
Origo is seeking an undergraduate student with preference given to students at a college or university in the San Francisco Bay Area. Students from any major and any year will be considered.
The most important qualification is that a candidate be enthusiastic and open minded about the ways in which new approaches to business design can help solve pressing social and environmental issues. Origo is looking for an intelligent, creative, hard working intern who is willing to help out with all aspects of our business. Good computer skills and a familiarity with internet research are required.
Compensation
This position is intended to be an educational experience. Students that qualify for federal community service work study will be compensated according to the guidelines of the program (~$4,400) but must complete the CSWS application process with their school. Students that do not qualify will be provided a stipend of $1,500.
