ESW Seeking Green Building Project Liaison and ESW Projects Website Designer

ESWEngineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) is looking for candidates to fill open positions during the school year in two separate projects:

– Project Liaison, Green Building: ESW is embarking on a project to design a green building in Ocotal, Nicaragua.  ESW local partner in Ocotal operates a community school and an international language academy, and has recently obtained funding to expand their educational complex. 

– Web Designer, ESW Projects Website: ESW is looking to launch a new website to showcase our projects.  The website will serve as a clearinghouse for all information related to our projects, including descriptions of current and past projects, a database of available positions and contacts, project philosophy, etc.  ESW is open to the idea of developing the site as a Wiki.

Apply to the 2006-2007 Starting Bloc Fellowship Program

StartingblocApplications to the 2006-2007 StartingBloc Fellowship program are now available. StartingBloc will work with graduate school admissions officers to accept ~400 Fellows during the 2006-2007 Program Year.

Fellows will have the option of attending the regional Institute for Social Innovation in the Greater Boston area and the Greater New York City area. Fall and Spring programs will be offered in Greater New York City. The early application for the fall program is July 1st, 2006 and the regular deadline is August 31st, 2006. A Spring program will be offered in Boston. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis to Spring programs and the final deadline will be announced in late fall.

The Program
 
The Digital Vision Program supports social entrepreneurs who seek to leverage technology-based solutions in the interest of humanitarian, educational, and sustainable development goals. FACE AIDS

FACE AIDS (www.faceaids.org) is going to raise $1 million to fight AIDS in Africa in 2006, but we can't do it without you!

FACE AIDS is an organization founded in August 2005 to fight AIDS in Africa by inspiring and mobilizing students at universities across the U.S.  Using beaded pins made by Africans affected by AIDS, we're organizing students in a fundraising and awareness campaign that will result in the creation of the Katele Fund, which will support small organizations fighting HIV/AIDS through prevention and care.

SVT Seeking Autumn 2005 Interns

SvtconsultingSVT is seeking six interns to help work with the Davos, Switzerland-based Schwab Foundation and six of its Schwab Entrepreneurs to create social return on investment (SROI) analyses of their organizations. The subject organizations will be in a range of fields from human rights to environmental sustainability. 

The interns will be centrally involved in the preparation of these SROI analyses and in debriefing the entrepreneurs about the value of and tensions involved in calculating and communicating SROI.   The interns will conduct secondary research on proxy outcome studies that can be used in the calculation of the SROI analyses.

Center for Effective Philanthropy Seeks 2006 Winter Intern

CepThe Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) seeks a current college student, ideally in his/her junior or senior year, to assist with survey research and research on current topics in philanthropy for an 8-10 week period beginning in early January 2006.

Key responsibilities will include assisting with primary research—including data collection on foundation grantmaking and nonprofit grantee organizations—as well as research on trends and special topics in the foundation field. S/he will be expected to contribute to large-scale data collection efforts, and may also assist with the development of new research initiatives. S/he will have the opportunity to work closely with CEP's staff in the execution of research and dissemination efforts.

Strong analytical ability and comfort with quantitative analysis as well as an interest in the nonprofit sector are required. This full-time, paid internship will be located at CEP's office in Cambridge, Massachusetts and will ideally begin in early January.

BuildingBlocks International (BBI), a San Francisco-based social enterprise, seeks a qualified, energetic intern to assist with our fall initiatives. BBI is an international non-profit organization that connects corporate professionals with community organizations that enable children to thrive through corporate service fellowships. During a corporate service fellowship, employees spend four weeks to a year (full-time) applying their management skills within community-based organizations around the world. Kards4Kids.org Launches Greeting Card Site to Benefit Children

According to URLWireNew, the new site at http://www.kards4kids.org offers customizable high-quality greeting cards that promote the benefits of early learning — and all proceeds go to a small nonprofit that helps disadvantaged kids succeed in school and in life.
